In 1958, German born Louis Mrak came to Canada and opened Mark Motors of Ottawa, a central European car service center on Montreal Road. This was just a few doors down from where the Mark Motors Porsche dealership stands today. Over Mark Motors’ 50-year history, Louise Mrak expanded Mark Motors and went on to represent some of the greatest car companies in the world. Today, Mark Motors operates as a full service Porsche dealership that carries the most desired Porsche models, as well as an Audi dealership.
Over the years, Mark Motors has fostered a close connection with racing. It began in the early 60’s when Louis Mrak worked as the mechanic for a small Volkswagen racing team in Ottawa. From 1985-1988, Mark Motors also sponsored driver Paul Tracy in the 944 Racing Series.
This passion for racing culminated again in 2011, when Mark Motors was part of the inauguration of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada race series at Ottawa’s local track, Calabogie Motorsports Park.
At the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada, Mark Motors was the sponsor of title champion Perry Bortolotti. In 2012, Mark Motors continued to support the sport, the series and the brand with a second year sponsorship of Perry Bortolotti who finished third in the series.
2013 was a new venture for Mark Motors, as they entered their own racing team comprised of Perry Bortolotti and Marco Cirone, who both drove brand new 2013 GT3 Cup cars. Mark Motors Racing had a very successful inaugural season, finishing the series in fourth place overall. Likewise, driver Marco Cirone finished in third place and Perry Bortolotti finished in seventh place overall.
In 2014, both drivers had a great season with Marco Cirone earning his sixth Platinum Masters victory and his second consecutive title in the class, while Perry Bortolotti finished 3rd overall in the Platinum Masters division. Mark Motors Racing finished the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada Series in fourth place overall.
